A Look At Toy Fair 2019!

Tody we are checking out some of the new Barbie Fashionistas, Hasbro dolls, and Marvel Legends coming later this year!

Toy Fair 2019 just ended, and boy was it exciting!  Toy Fair is the most anticipated toy event of the year.  Attendees can connect with others, share ideas, and get sneak peeks at upcoming products.  It’s a collector’s paradise! (Not to mention the best place for doll and action figure bloggers to meet big brands and establish themselves in the toy community). Unfortunately, I cannot attend due to my problematic health?.  Still, that doesn’t keep me from following the major brands on social media and reporting what I see there to you!  So, let’s get started and see what’s in store for 2019!

2019 Marvel Legends

Avengers: Infinity War:

We learned last fall that a Marvel Legends Ebony Maw and Corvus Glaive would show up in 2019.  Most expected these figures to be part of an Avengers: Endgame series, but it looks like they are actually part of another Avengers: Infinity War wave.

A two-pack featuring Corvus Glaive and Loki was revealed at Toy Fair and is listed on Walmart’s website.

Marvel Legends Loki and Corvus Glaive from Walmart.com.

I didn’t plan on getting Corvus Glaive, but Loki is a must have!  So, it looks like I’ll end up with Glaive after all.  Oh well, I suppose he can hang with Crossbones and Yellowjacket.  Maybe I’ll even create an evil lair for them!

Marvel Legends Loki and Corvus Glaive 2-Pack from Walmart.
Expected retail price: $39.97. Images obtained via Walmart.com.

If you’re thinking of buying these figures, I suggest keeping a close eye on Walmart’s site.  I expect them to sell out quickly, especially since many collectors want a Corvus Glaive to go with their Proxima Midnight. According to my sources (aka the internet), this two-pack will be available this Spring (2019).

Spider-Man: Homecoming–Spider-Man and MJ 2-pack:

Yes, my friends, we are getting Spider-Man and MJ from Spider-Man: Homecoming!

2019 Marvel Legends Spider-Man: Homecoming two-pack from Target.
Expected retail price: $39.99. All images obtained via Target.com.

I am ecstatic about this set! Not only are we getting MJ for the first time, but I really wanted a Marvel Legends figure of Spider-Man in his Stark Suit since I missed out on the first Spider-Man: Homecoming wave.

Marvel Legends Spider-Man: Homecoming 2-Pack with Spider-Man and MJ. Target Exclusive.

This two-pack is a Target exclusive. Like the Loki and Corvus Glaive set, it should be available in stores and online this Spring.

Marvel Legends 6-inch Shuri:

Black Panther fans can continue adding to their collection with a brand new Shuri figure!

Marvel Legends 6-inch Shuri figure from Hasbro.
Image obtained via Hasbro Pulse Instagram. Expected retail price: $19.99.

I’m not sure if this Shuri is in the same wave as Corvus Glaive and Loki, an Avengers: Endgame wave, or a completely different wave.  Regardless, she will look great standing next to T’Challa and Nakia!

Spider-Man: Far From Home:

This week images of two Spider-Man figures from Spider-Man: Far From Home popped up on Hasbro’s Twitter account.

Marvel Legends Spider-Man: Far From Home figures: Spider-Man with the red and black suit, and Spider-Man with Stealth suit.
Images obtained via @Hasbro on Twitter. Expected retail price: $19.99 each.

The picture on the left is Spider-Man in his new black and red suit, and the other is his black Stealth Suit (both of these suits are seen in the Spider-Man: Far From Home teaser).  I have no clue if either of these figures come with alternate hands or unmasked heads.  Still, I intend to pick up both even if they come without accessories.

I also saw listings for a Marvel Legends Scorpion figure and Hydro-Man figure.  We know Hydro-Man is in Far From Home, and it’s rumored that Scorpion and Vulture will show up as well.  I don’t know if these figures are part of a Far From Home wave or not, but it is interesting that they were included in the line-up.

Remember that clip at the very end of Spider-Man: Homecoming when Vulture passes a tattooed inmate, and the guy asks him about their “spider friend”?  That is Scorpion.

I’m surprised a movie-accurate Mysterio wasn’t shown.  I feel sure we’ll get one though since he is the main villain.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Series:

Last year surprised us with a unique collection of Legends celebrating Marvel Studios’ 10th anniversary.  Well, this year we are getting another special series celebrating 80 years of Marvel comics and movies!

The 10th Anniversary sets featured only MCU characters (which, I admit, are my favorite), but this 80th Anniversary wave will also include comic book characters.  It’s a win for both comic book fans and MCU fans!

The figures in this series are:

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Series Iron Man and Iron Spider 2-Pack.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Marvel Legends Iron Man and Iron Spider Two-Pack. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $49.99.

You can be sure I’ll be getting this set!

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Series Captain America and Peggy Carter 2-pack.

Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary Legends Captain America and Peggy Carter Two-Pack. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $49.99.

We are finally getting Captain America and Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger!  This is incredible!  These two are definitely on my Legends list.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Series Grandmaster and Korg 2-pack:

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Grandmaster and Korg Two-Pack. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $49.99.

Hmmm…not my favorite characters.  However, I know many MCU fans have wanted a Marvel Legends Korg but thought they’d never see one since he is a minor character.  This two-pack will thrill them.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Series Ghost and Luis 2-pack:

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Ghost and Luis Two-Pack. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $49.99

I MUST have this set.  Luis is the ultimate side-kick!  I’m totally going to set up a tiny apartment for him and Scott.

I also like Ghost.  I see her as a “created” villain.  Like she didn’t really want to hurt people but ended up doing so due to weird circumstances and cruel people–kind of like Bucky.

Anyway, you can expect to see a review of these figures later this year.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Series Colossus and Juggernaut 2-pack:

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Colossus and Juggernaut two-pack. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $59.99.

Thank goodness!  X-Men characters!  My wallet will have a chance to breathe (I don’t collect X-Men).  I don’t know much about Colossus or Juggernaut, but I think they are in Deadpool?  I can’t say for sure, though, because I haven’t seen any of the Deadpool movies (I have a sensitive stomach when it comes to blood and graphic images ?).

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Series Skurge and Hela 2-pack:

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Skurge and Hela from Thor: Ragnarok. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $49.99.

Yay, it’s Skurge and Hela from Thor: Ragnarok!  More MCU villains to add to the lair!  Although, I’m not sure Skurge qualifies as a villain since he changed at the end of the movie.  All we need now is a movie-accurate Odin, Volstagg, Fandral, and Hogun and we could build a 1:12 scale Asgard.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Series Wolverine and Hulk 2-pack:

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Wolverine and Hulk Two-Pack. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $59.99.

This two-pack has Wolverine and The Hulk.  Since I don’t collect X-Men, I’ll probably skip this set.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor:

It looks like we also have comic versions of Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor to look forward to.

Marvel 80th Anniversary Legends Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. Coming Fall 2019.
Expected retail price: $24.99 each.

All of these 80th-anniversary figures look spectacular, but my favorites are the MCU based ones.  I’ll be counting down the days to their release which, according to Hasbro’s Twitter and Instagram, will be sometime this fall.

All images of the Marvel 80th-Anniversary figures were found via Hasbro Pulse on Instagram. You can see them here: Hasbro Pulse Instagram

New Dolls from Hasbro and Fashionistas from Mattel:

Ralph Breaks The Internet Ultimate Fashion Doll Pack:

Ralph Breaks The Internet Ultimate Fashion Doll Pack from Hasbro. Coming March 2019.
Images obtained via HasbroPulse.com.

This Ralph Breaks The Internet doll pack is enormous!  It has every princess!  The Disney Store released a similar set, but it doesn’t have Anna and Elsa (hence why I haven’t bought it).  This one, though, has all the princesses chillin’ with Vanellope in their comfy clothes.

According to the description, the set comes with:

  1. 14 dolls.
  2. 14 outfits (one on each doll).
  3. 22 accessories (like snacks and headbands).
  4. 12 pairs of shoes.
Ralph Breaks The Internet dolls from Hasbro. Coming March 2019.

The dolls are 11″ tall and are articulated (I see elbows, wrists, and knees!). The entire set can be pre-ordered at HasbroPulse.com for $199.99. But, if that price is a little steep, you can wait until they come out in late March and purchase the dolls in two-packs for about $29.99 per pack.

Barbie Fashionistas Fall 2019:

New 2019 Barbie Fashionistas.

Barbie is making their Fashionista line even more diverse by adding disabled dolls! As someone who battles illness, I find this super exciting!

I know it sounds odd to some, but even I’ve found that having a doll that “is like you” sometimes helps when you’re facing a life-changing disability.  That’s why Tinkerbell wears a handmade medical bracelet.

It's not fancy, but it works.

Anyway, I think it’s great to see dolls representing those of us who can’t do everything and reminding us (and others) that it’s okay to be disabled.

The Rest:

Marvel Legends, Barbies, and those adorable Disney Princess dolls from Ralph Breaks The Internet are just the beginning. A few other things revealed at this year’s Toy Fair are:

  1. Disney Princess Comic Minis: A collection of Disney Princess blind boxes based on the Joe Books Disney Princess comic books. I love those Princess comics and intend to get several of these blind boxes!
  2. Disney Descendants 3 Dolls: Disney Descendants 3 is coming out this year and, along with it, a whole new collection of dolls. I believe the movie is airing on the Disney channel this summer, so I bet the dolls will debut either late spring or early summer–they tend to release merchandise right before the film.
  3. BTS dolls from Mattel: I know nothing about BTS. I guess they’re a popular band right now but couldn’t tell you who they are or what they sing.  But, for those of you looking forward to this new collection, I did some research and found that the dolls are supposed to come out this summer.  They will cost $19.99 each and have suits resembling the ones in the music video, “Idol.”
  4. Anything from Avengers: Endgame: Sorry, folks nothing to see here. I was so hoping to see some products for Endgame, but no. Marvel banned all merchandise related to Avengers: Endgame from Toy Fair. Not even one spoiler-y Lego was allowed in!

When they say "top secret," they mean it!

Yes, it seems we’ll have to wait a little while longer before seeing what awesome armor Iron Man dons this year.  I’ve heard he might wear comic-accurate one with more gold, which would be totally cool—as long as he doesn’t die in it!

Now It’s Your Turn!

Well, friends, I hope you had fun checking out Toy Fair 2019 with me!  But I’ve gabbed enough about the dolls and figures I’m looking forward to.  Now it’s your turn to say what you’re excited to see!

Leave a comment in down below, and feel free to share anything from this year’s Toy Fair that I missed (new dolls, fun blind boxes, or more Marvel-y finds).

  1. So many exciting toys to look forward to! I have kind of the opposite problem when it comes to Marvel Legends. I’m relieved whenever I see something that isn’t X-Men, because I only collect X-Men. There are just so many new figures coming out this year that I’ve been waiting for them to make for such a long time… my poor wallet lol!

I’m also really looking forward to seeing the new barbies in stores, I agree that it’s very important to have a more diverse range of dolls available.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, it’s shaping up to be a good year for both X-Men and MCU collectors! The figures look awesome, and I’m excited to see more minor characters. A few months ago, someone asked me if I thought Hasbro would ever make a Marvel Legends Luis (I was showing off Ant-Man from the First Ten Years series). I said, “No way–they rarely make sidekicks.” I’ve never been so happy to be proven wrong!

  2. wow these are so cool the fashionista dolls make grate LOL doll moms and dads!

  3. I am pretty sure that there was a doll pack with Anna, Elsa and Vanellope on the Disney Store social media awhile back. If you just want the Arendelle sisters, that might be a less expensive option.

Thanks for the tip! I just looked at the Vanellope, Anna, and Elsa set online and they’re adorable! I can’t believe I missed them. I may still hold out for the Hasbro dolls just because they’re taller and have more articulation. Still, the Disney Store ones are awfully tempting?.

  4. I admit, I am excited about the barbies especially the ones with prosthetic legs.
Also though I never watched Wreck it Ralph 2, I am excited that there are princesses with different face sculpts, since I often use the dolls for fictional characters, and the fact that they have different faces is quite useful.
Also though this is not mentioned I watched a My Froggy Stuff video where they mentioned Hachimal releases, which sound really exciting since they are expanding the Hachimal line.

    1. P.S. I personally don’t understand people’s obsessions with BTS. (But maybe that is just me), but it is interesting that they are making a doll of them, I wonder if they will make dolls of Taylor Swift or some other famous singer.

      1. Author

I don’t know what the fascination with BTS is either. Maybe it’s because I’m not a teen¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Nevertheless, I’m curious if they’ll be fully articulated. If so, they might be excellent candidates for creating Made-To-Move Ken dolls.

Yes, the new princesses are pretty cute! I don’t know if I’ll get the whole set, but I’m definitely considering a couple of two-packs. Thanks for the tip about the Hatchimals! I’ll check out the video for sure (I adore Hatchimals?).

  5. The new articulated Disney princesses look nice, but I’m not sure that they’d fit in with my Barbie crew, and I don’t like the princesses themselves enough to buy any. I may change my mind when I see them in person.

My youngest daughter, the Dancer, loves Peggy Carter. She even bought a lipstick by Besame (kiss me in Spanish) that is the shade that Peggy Carter wore in her TV miniseries.

I love Peggy Carter too! There’s speculation she might make an appearance in Endgame (like in a flashback or time jump), but it’s mostly vague rumors.
